Restraining Order – 50(B) Hearings

A 50(B) hearing is when one person is seeking a restraining order from another person.

In Mecklenburg County, these cases are heard in Courtroom 4110. They are technically civil proceedings, but the consequences of getting a 50(B) against you can include the requirement to pay child support, move out of your home, attend domestic violence classes, or risk going to jail if you do not comply with what is ordered.

Obviously, they are serious matters. One should always seek the guidance of counsel before going into Courtroom 4110.

I handle 50(B) and 50(C) cases, both by representing Plaintiff’s (people seeking the restraining order) and Defendant’s (people who have to defend against the accusations in a 50(B) or 50(C) complaint.)
